Discussion on the Ursa Major Awards, for excellence in the furry arts.
The Ursa Major Awards are the furry fandom awards for outstanding achievement in anthropomorphic and furry arts, akin to science fiction fandom's Hugo.

To be eligible for an Award, a work must have been released between January 1 and December 31 of the calendar year for that award, and must include a non-human being given human atributes (anthropomorphic), which can be mental and/or physical; for example, the intelligent rabbits in Watership Down for the former, and Bugs Bunny for the latter. Simply including an animal character is not sufficient to qualify.

The Awards have been presented at various furry conventions since 2002. For a complete history, visit the Ursa Major Awards web site at http://ursamajorawards.org.

During the year, anyone may send in recommendations for the best works, which are collected in the Recommended Anthropomorphics List on the UMA web site. Award nominations are not limited to items included on the list. Any works first published during the year under consideration are eligible.

The Ursa Major Awards are administered and presented by the Anthropomorphic Literature and Arts Association (ALAA), a membership organization dedicated to promoting anthropomorphic literature and arts through such projects as the Recommended List and Ursa Major Awards. Discussions are ongoing to improve their effectiveness and expand their presence throughout furry fandom. All suggestions are invited.
